What is Anxiety?
Everyone is familiar with feeling stressed, worried or nervous about something. Usually, these feelings disappear quickly but for those with anxiety these feelings last longer, can be much more intense and affect the way someone lives their life.

What causes Anxiety?
Anxiety comes from the adrenal glands in the Endocrine System which is designed to protect us through the fight, flight or freeze response in the body. If our brains perceive a threat or danger, it releases hormones to prepare us to deal with it. These hormones include adrenaline and cortisol, and they make us feel alert. Because of the stress involved in coping with modern life our adrenal glands are continuously producing adrenaline and cortisol – they never switch off, they never get a break. This leads to anxiety.
